Laura Vaughn - Member at Large

Laura Vaughn grew up in Indiana but has lived in Arkansas ever since enrolling at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She had a blast playing alto sax in the Jazz Band, but the  major focus for her Music Education degree was in voice and piano.

Since 1985 when she joined the staff at Cabot United Methodist Church as a very green 23-year-old, Laura has  served as music director, handbell director, and children’s choir director, and even served as “interim” organist for 8-1/2 years! At present she serves on the staff as part-time choir director, and volunteers as the handbell and children’s choir director, in addition to teaching piano lessons in the home. Her latest activities have shifted, however, from choir directing to serving as a recording artist during this time of online church services!

Laura retired from teaching elementary school music in the Cabot Public Schools in 2014. Her husband, Jerry, works as an educational consultant with the University of Arkansas Leadership Academy. They have two grown daughters and are proud grandparents of one precious granddaughter.
