-January 28, 2017, was the first Xtreme Ring! in Arkansas! This event was for grades 3-8, and challenged the ringers, because they had never seen the music before! Clinician Mary Ibis of Second Presbyterian Church had several pieces of music marked and ready to go, and was able to teach the children how to read and ring it in just a few minutes. Well, the reading part took a few minutes--the ringing part took a little longer, but was accomplished in time for the 2:45 "sharing session." The kids also were introduced to percussion instruments and Orff instruments, and several of the ringers chose to work even harder on an advanced bell piece they played accompanied by the piano. All in all, it was a wonderful day, and we thank Mary Ibis for her very hard work and the Second Presbyterian Church for the use of their lovely facilities.
